Building Bridges

Building Bridges is Hospice of San Angelo's grief support program for children and teens.  Building Bridges allows area teens and children to find support either in a six-week support group offered twice a year or through individual grief support.  The services are free and offered to any child in the community who is dealing with the loss of a loved one.

During the Spring 2014 six week session of Building Bridges participants were lent cameras and encouraged to take photos in an effort to express their grief and show others what grief looked like through their eyes.  The project gave them a chance to communicate their own personal grief experience to others through the pictures they took.  HOSA then created an exhibit of the teen's photographs that was open to the public at the Coop Gallery.

Griefography was co-sponsored by the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the city of San Angelo.

The exhibit was featured in the San Angelo Standard-Times. The article can be seen by clicking here.
